Natural’s Beauty Shampoo & Conditioner Review

I have been a fan of the Natural’s Beauty range for as long as I have been blogging. I have such a wonderful relationship with the brand. They sponsored one of my first ever giveaways and believed in me from the get-go. Tanya, the owner, is also the first to offer samples when I need donations for charity campaigns or goody bags – so I truly just want to show my appreciation for the brand and give a huge big thank you!

I have been waiting for the hair care range to come out for YEARS (I have the e-mails to prove it), and was so excited when she sent be the shampoo and conditioner to review.

A little bit about the brand..

“Naturals Beauty was born out of a love and curiosity for natural beauty and body products back in 2007. I became acutely aware of ingredients only after having a child and was alarmed at all the ‘nasties’ that go into commercial body products. Not having a chemistry background I could only take the range so far so I was delighted in 2009 when I met our wonderful Contract Manufacturer – Louise Botes. Louise comes to Naturals Beauty with 12 years experience in natural and organic ranges. Her knowledge of botanical extracts and natural preservative systems and organic ingredients has helped us to sophisticate our products. We work as a team researching, developing and producing new and existing products. Our little lab is in the beautiful Riebeek Valley and our labelling and admin is done in Cape Town.

We are a family run business and have become known for our excellent customer service.

Our products are available in various online stores and also in health and boutique stores, but we definitely enjoy the personal touch of Open Houses where we can get to know our customers and give them personal attention and advice.

Our goal is to produce an affordable, quality natural skin care range and I am so proud that we are achieving our goal.”- =– Tanya du Bois,

Let’s get to it…

My first impression when I received the shampoo and conditioner was that I loved the packaging. It is clean, visually appealing and will look great in my bathroom. Not that that really counts for anything – but you know what, I like pretty things. As with all their products, both the shampoo and conditioner smell absolutely AMAZING! At R125 each for 300ml of product, I did feel that it was a bit expensive. But here’s the thing… small local companies do not have the massive financial backing that large international brands have. They create jobs, they fuel our economy and they use only the best natural and organic ingredients in their formulas.

Natural's Beauty Shampoo & Conditioner Review

I had been trying the shampoo and conditioner for two weeks, and I was not loving it at all. My hair felt dry… not silky smooth and shiny. I could not understand it, everything Tanya touches turns to gold – why was this not working? I e-mailed the PR agency involved in a panic, and was asked to try it for one more week, and to leave the conditioner in overnight for the next two washes.

I did some research and realized what the issue was. First of all, I was using way too much product. Chemical shampoos foam up because of, well, chemicals (aka synthetic foaming agents). We’ve been trained to associate cleanliness with lathering up our luscious locks in foamy shampoo, and because of this I ended up using way too much shampoo being under the impression it will only work if it gets super foamy. Turns out I only needed a small amount, about the size of a R5 coin, to get the job done. This also means that the product will last longer, which is a bonus.

My hair needed time to adjust. The commercial shampoo and conditioner I’ve been using for the past year contained petrochemicals and according to Tanya, my  hair shaft was laden with silicones and petro build up. I persevered with my new natural shampoo to get rid of this build up and left my conditioner in rather than wash it out as advised.

It took another week, but holy GLORIOUS. It worked. My hair is once again my crowning glory… silky smooth and shinier than it ever was before.

I love this product, and will highly recommend it to anyone looking to switch to a natural shampoo and conditioner.
